Kathmandu is the capital and largest city of Nepal which lies in the Bagmati Zone. It is also known as the city of Temples. Kathmandu is a combination of three districts Namely, Kathmandu, Lalitpur & Bhaktapur. It lies in a hilly region near the confluence of the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers, at an elevation of 4,344 feet ( 1,324 meters) above sea level. The city is considered the gateway to the Nepalese Himalayas and is home to several World Heritage sites: The Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath. Kathmandu city now has become the country`s most business and commercial center. You can get to see the different cultures and traditions in Kathmandu valley. Moreover, Newar people live here in Kathmandu valley. Mainly people of Kathmandu valley follow Buddhist culture and some also follow the Hindu culture. Kathmandu is the gateway for tourists to Nepal.

Major attractions on the Tour: 

Pashupatinath:  The holiest holy Hindu temple in south Asia is the focal point of pilgrimage from all over the sub-continent. The holy river Bagmati flowing nearby is the cremation ground of the Hindus. funeral pyres can be viewed from across the river.

Boudhanath: Probably the largest stupa in the world is also found in Kathmandu valley the great stupa of Boudhanath. Again the Omni-sighted eyes of the buddha stare in all the directions. The stupa is the place of worship of Tibetan Buddhists predominantly.

Swoyambhunath: It is situated in the west of Kathmandu city on the top of the hill. The huge stupa is one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Nepal and is listed as a world heritage site.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: So far as art and architecture are concerned, you need to look no further. This complex of places, courtyards, and temples was built between the 12th and 18th Centuries. The durbar square is protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site in the social, religious, and urban focal point of the city.
