Cho Oyu is the 6th highest mountain in the world with 8201M altitude from the sea level, which lies 20 km west to the Mt. Everest. Large number of people success to climb the Cho Oyu Mountain than other mountain.  First ascent in Cho Oyu was success in 1954 by Austrians Joseph Jöchler and Herbert Tichy, and Pasang Dawa Lama. Long caravans with yaks can be seen here at all times of the year. Cho Oyu has mainly five ridges northwest, northeast, southeast, south west and west with the habula Glacier on the north, Lanba Glacier on south and Gecongba Glacier.

Cho Oyu Expedition is just 45 days where you go up to the altitude of 8201M so it is graded as difficult Expedition. Cho Oyu Expedition starts from Zhangmu, Nyalam, Tingri, Chinese Base Camp, Cho Oyu Base Camp, Cho Oyu Summit, Lhasa and finally back to Kathmandu. On the way you can observe the natural beauty, stunning views of different Himalayas, exploration about the lifestyle, culture & tradition of the local peoples. Best season for Cho Oyu Expedition are Sep to Dec & Feb to May.

Itinerary of Cho Oyu Expedition

  • Day 1 : Kathmandu Arrival
Well Nepal travels and tour heartily welcome you in arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). And escort you to the hotel. Stay overnight at hotel.  
 
  • Day 2 : Kathmandu Sight seeing
This day you are going to explore the more about the world cultural heritage mention by UESCO. After breakfast you move for sightseeing to Pashupatinath, Swayambunath, Boudhanath Stupa.

Pashupatinath: Pashupatinath is the famous sites for tourist. It is a holy place of Hindu Pilgrimages which lies in the bank of Bagmati River. It lies just three kilometer northwest of Kathmandu valley. It is listed in 1979 AD in World Heritage Sites by UNESCO World Heritage. It is the main temple of the Hinduism. Large number of tourist comes to visit here every year from inside or outside the country. Large number of people gather on Ekadasi, Sankranti, Mahashivratri, Teej Akshaya, Rakshabandhan, Grahana (eclipse), Poornima (Full moon day). In Pashupatinath you can see the different types of statue, wood carving activities etc. which are the main importance of Pashupatinath.

Boudhanath Stupa: Boudha is the largest Stupa in Nepal which was probably built in 14th century. It lies 7 km away from centre of the Kathmandu, which lies outside the Valley Ring road. It comes under World Heritage in 1979 by UNESCO World Heritage. This is holy places for Buddhist and Hinduism. There is a Buddhist monastery and many Tibetan monks come to study here.  Then explore more about the Boudha.

Swayambunath: Swayambunath is the famous holy places for both Hindu & Buddhist pilgrimages which is also known as Monkey Temple. This temple lies in the top of the hill. It lies only 3 km west to the Kathmandu Valley. Large number of tourists comes to visit because of heart touching environment.  The area covered with lot of stupas, temples, painted images of deities and numerous other religious objects. There are many small shrines with statues of Tantric and shamanistic deities, prayer wheels for the Tibetan Buddhists, Shiva lingams, and a popular Hindu temple dedicated to Harati, the Goddess of smallpox and other epidemics. Large numbers of people visit in period of Saraswati Pooja, Baishak Purnima, Buddha Jayanti etc. it carried a great importance in our culture.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: Kathmandu Durbar Square is another main attraction of tourist in Kathmandu Valley. Large numbers of tourists come to visit here because of its uniqueness in handicrafts, wood carving, different temples, statue and historical museum and also to see the Living God Kumari. This one is a best place for hangout with your friend.  
 
  • Day 3 : Preparation Day
This day is preparation day for your trekking, where you do shopping that stuff you need in Everest Expedition. And then you have a discussion about your tour and short description given by your guide and safety measure for your expedition. Stay overnight at hotel.  
 
  • Day 4 : Kathmandu to Zhangmu (4500M) via Kodari (2515M)
After breakfast you go for a long drive to Nepal China border for Zhangmu. After immigration procedure at Nepal/China Border at Kodari, then we drive all the way to Zhangmu. Along with enjoying the natural beauty as well as stunning view of different Himalayas. Stay overnight at Zhangmu.  
 
  • Day 5 : Zhangmu to Nalayam (3750M)
After breakfast you drive to Nalayam where you can see observe several stops, beautiful landscapes, green hills and some vistas of Himalayas. Stay overnight at Nalayam.  
 
  • Day 6 : Acclimatization Day
This day is your leisure day for taking care of your health. So have fun with the surrounding views and get a chance to know nearly about the life style, culture tradition of Nalayam. You can explore to its surrounding or you can email your friends, parents. Or take proper rest so that you will be fit for upcoming trekking. Stay overnight at hotel.  
 
  • Day 7 : Nayalam to Tingri (4300M)
After breakfast you gear up for Tingri from you can encounter Mt. Everest and Cho Oyu spectacular view which takes out your breath. Stay overnight at Tingri.  
 
  • Day 8 : Acclimatization Day
This day is your leisure day for taking care of your health. So have fun with the surrounding views and get a chance to know nearly about the life style, culture tradition of Tingri. You can explore to its surrounding or you can email your friends, parents. Or take proper rest so that you will be fit for upcoming trekking. Stay overnight at hotel  
 
  • Day 9 : Drive from Tingri to China Base Camp
After breakfast you drive to towards China Base Camp along with enjoying the nature and scenic view of different mountains. Stay overnight at China Base Camp.  
 
  • Day 10 : China Base Camp to Cho Oyu Base Camp (4900M)
After breakfast you gear up for Cho Oyu Base Camp you can encounter the beautiful landscapes and view of mountains. Stay overnight at Cho Oyu Base Camp.  
 
  • Day 11 : Day 11-13: Acclimatization Day
This day is leisure so you can email your friend, family, or explore about the Cho Oyu Base Camp and our guide provides you the knowledge about how to use different means so that it makes you easy. And build up communication languages among your team member. Stay overnight at Cho Oyu Base Camp.  
 
  • Day 14 : Day 14-36: Cho Oyu Expedition Day
 
 
  • Day 37 : Day 37-38: Return to Cho Oyu Base Camp
Before you trail down to Cho Oyu Base Camp collect all the beautiful memories that you share and gather when you reach to the top of the Cho Oyu. And finally move down to the Cho Oyu Base Camp.  
 
  • Day 39 : Day 39-40: Return back to Tingri
Drive back same way to Tingri from China Base Camp. Stay overnight at Tingri.  
 
  • Day 41 : Drive to Lhasa (3650M)
These days you will drive from Tingri to Lhasa enjoying several places along the way like Shigatse and Gyantse and finally to Lhasa. Along the way you will visit several cultural and historical places like Shalu, Sakya Monastery and some small villages, famous Tashilhunpo Monastery, the Gyantse Dzong, a restored fort and the Kumbum Stupa, a magnificent six-storied landmark containing over seventy-five temples, Pekhor Chode Monastery,Drepung Monastery, Potala Palace etc stay overnight at Lhasa.  
 
  • Day 42 : Acclimatization Day
This day you can fully enjoy or explore the Lhasa region which helps more to gain the knowledge. Stay overnight at Lhasa.  
 
  • Day 43 : Fly from Lhasa to Kathmandu
After breakfast you headed towards for airport for your flight to Kathmandu. You can encounter the mountains like arlung Tsangpo River, Lake Yamdrok, Mt. Kanchenjunga (8586m) and Mt. Makalu (8463m) and Mt. Everest (8848m) during your flight. It only takes 1hour and 15 minutes to land in Kathmandu from Lhasa.  
 
  • Day 44 : Acclimatization Day
This day is leisure for you so you can utilize this time by email you friends, family. Or you can go for shopping, clubbing, watching movie etc at night you had a small success party on Cho Oyu Expedition. Stay overnight at hotel.  
 
  • Day 45 : Departure
Cho Oyu Expedition comes to an end today. You have a plenty of time to organize a photo, email to your friends, agents, parent till your departure. If you have plenty of time to stay in Nepal so you can make a call for us to plan for you.
